Radiant on Raw Beauty Secrets - Raw Honey

The use of honey for beauty dates back thousands of years. Cleopatra, the queen of Egypt, was known for her exquisite complexion and famous for her milk and honey baths. Poppea, wife of Roman Emperor Nero, used a honey and milk lotion on her face to keep looking youthful.

* Raw honey can be used for skin rashes, burns and abrasions. Apply a small amount of raw honey lightly over the affected area; may cover with a dressing or a dusting of cornstarch to reduce any stickiness.

* Raw honey is the ultimate moisturizer.
Smooth a small amount of raw honey lightly over the skin; easily remove later with splashes of cold water or comfortable warm water. Leaves skin baby soft.

* Raw honey contains bee pollen, propolis, and other components that stimulate the growth of new skin.

* Raw honey contains mild alpha hydroxy acids, such as gluconic acid. These acids are very safe to use on skin and can loosen bonds between the dead skin cells, making it easier to shed this dead layer. These acids are also able to increase elasticity, balance out oily skin, stimulate collagen production, and minimize lines and wrinkles, thus making you look younger.

* Honey contains amino acids, which help the skin retain its essential moisture. So apply a honey mask each day for moisturizing!

* Because of its many antioxidants, honey scavenges for free radicals. Honey can reverse damage done to your skin by these free radicals, and does not dry out your skin like many soaps do.

* Raw honey cleans teeth, mouth and dentures and stops bleeding gums. Canker sores, blisters and mouth ulcers respond to application of raw honey.

Honey in its natural raw state contains 2 predominant natural sugars (Fructose and Glucose), 11 enzymes, 14 minerals, 21 amino acids, all the vitamins that nutritionists consider necessary for health, such as Vitamins A, D, C, K, Rutin, Nicotinic acid, B vitamins, Thiamine, Riboflavin, Niacin, Pantothenic acid, Pyridoxine and Biotin, and trace amounts of minerals such as silica, copper, magnesium, iron, etc.

In addition to its age-retarding and beautifying properties raw honey has been proven to be from beneficial to extraordinary effective in the following:

* As honey is a pre-digested food (a process done by the bees) it enters the blood stream directly producing energy quickly, unlike refined sugar which has to be digested.

* Proline, an amino acid in raw honey is the primary component in collagen. Collagen is the main structure in bones. Calcium is also found in two forms in raw honey.

* In digestive disturbances honey is of great value. Honey does not ferment in the stomach because, being an inverted sugar, it is easily absorbed and there is no danger of a bacterial invasion. The flavor of honey excites the appetite and helps digestion.

* For dyspeptics, convalescents and the aged, honey is an excellent reconstructive and tonic. In malnutrition, no food or drug can equal it. Its fatty acid content stimulates peristalsis. In gastric catarrh, hyperacidity, gastric and duodenal ulcers and gall bladder diseases, honey is recommended by several eminent gastroenterologists.

* Raw honey increases Haemoglobin count and can prevent or cure Anemia. It is rich in iron and copper.

* Honey is a great aid in relieving morning sickness, reportedly even more effective than traditional soda crackers.

* Is an excellent mild laxative, especially recommended as such for infants and children.

* It has been shown to be useful in Rheumatic and Arthritic conditions, especially in combination with Apple Cider Vinegar.

* It has been used successful in the treatment of liver and kidney disorders, diseases of the respiratory and digestive tracts, weak heart action, infectious diseases, colds, insomnia, poor circulation, and bad complexion.

* It is not mere theory, but has been proved that bacteria cannot live in the presence of raw honey, for the reason that raw honey is an excellent source of potassium. The potassium draws from the bacteria the moisture, which is essential to the very existence. A bacteriologist who did not believe this, after a series of tests discovered to his amazement that the disease germs he tested (typhoid, Bronco-pneumonia and Dysentery producing germs) were all killed off in the presence of raw honey.

* In this book “Folk Medicine”, Dr Jarvis an ear, nose and throat specialist reveals some startling facts about raw honey and honeycomb. He says the honeycomb is excellent for the treating of stuffy nose, nasal sinusitis and hay fever. He always says that raw honey is essential in the diet of children because it provides the composite of minerals needed for the growing body (iron, copper, manganese, silica, chlorine, potassium, sodium, phosphorous, aluminum, magnesium, zinc, lead and sulfur). CAUTION: honey should never be given to children under 12 months old.

* Probably the most beneficial effect of pollen (contained in raw unfiltered honey) is that, taken internally it quickly produces the same anti-putrefactive effect as lactic foods and thus contributes to a healthy digestive system and good assimilation of nutrients—absolute prerequisites for good health and long life.

* Eating pollen rich raw honey causes rapid combustion, consuming fats, which speed up the burning of fat, and continues through the bloodstream at a trickle stimulating the heart without harmful side effects.

* Dr. William G. Peterson, an allergist from Ada in the 1950's, said he now has 22,000 patients across the nation who are using raw honey along with more customary medications to relieve allergy symptoms.

"It must be raw honey because raw honey contains all the pollen, dust and molds that cause 90 per cent of all allergies," he told a meeting of the Oklahoma Beekeepers Association. "What happens is that the patient builds up an immunity to pollen, dust or mold that is causing his trouble in the first place. The raw honey must "not be strained, not even through a cloth." he added. "I know the customer wants good, clear strained honey, and that's fine, but for health reasons, raw honey is what we need."

Dr. Peterson said he and the 20 doctors at his clinic at Ada normally prescribe a daily teaspoon of raw honey. The honey treatment continues even after the allergy is under control.

Honey is antiseptic, antibiotic, antifungal, and antibacterial -- it never spoils!

When shopping for raw honey, make sure it’s organic and pesticide free, and the container specifically says, “unheated and unfiltered
